Jericho

These last few days have been great! We always seem to have Sundays free and Mondays are starting to become my favorite days because that is usually our FIELD TRIP DAY. So on Sunday (remember our Sabbath is on Saturday) we all went to a nearby soccer field and played ultimate frisbee, and kick ball. Besides the broken class bottles, and horse poop all over the field, it was really fun, and it got really hot. Then we went to Zedekiah's Cave. That is where they got the stones to build Solomon's Temple. It was a huge cave that is right outside of the old city. You actually go underneath the gate of the old city. It was also where Zedekiah tried to escape but was captured. Then after visiting a museum we went shopping in the old city. Man those mershants know all the right tricks and I am a big succor. It is hard because some of them know the BYU students and have lowered the prices a lot because they know we are trustworthy people. It is also hard when they lower the price from 50 shekels to 20 because they like you and say you have pretty eyes. :) Well and also the fact that he said I can bring it back if I don't like it. I just couldn't say no, plus the necklace only ended up being $5. There was another guy that trusted me so much that he said I could give him what I had and then come back later to pay the rest. It is just neat to be known as a trustworthy person.
For our Field Trip today we went to Jericho. Wow that city is a lot smaller then I pictured it. I couldn't believe the size. We were standing right on top of it, and I took me awhile to understand that. We then went to a museum that sits where they think the Good Samaritan's Inn was. We also got to visit the Monestery where Christ was tempted by Satan. They even have the rock that represents the rock Satan tempted Christ to turn into bread. The Monestery sat right on the side of a Mountain, like coming out of a rock. We had to climb all the way up and man was it hot! Then we went out on a little balcony that pocks out of the mountain and man is that a drop. I really don't know how safe it was. We got to see a tree that represents the tree that Zacchaeus climbs to see Jesus. This is before Jesus stays at is house. Our last visit was Herold's Winter Palace. Of course it wasn't there but you could see the outline of it. It was a lot smaller then I thought. Movies really deceive you. I can't believe how well I do not know these stories. I am just glad I get to learn more about them in detail now.
