Egypt Trip

This was a week long trip and I took so many pictures so to see them all you need to keep going back to my older posts. This was the best trip! So much to see and so little time.
On the bottom of Mount Sinai is a church and a bush that represents the bush that Moses saw. Again Bonnie and I
On the way down from the top of Mount Sinai we found a bathroom, we couldn't have been happier. I did not just want to go out in the middle of the desert.

This is the sign on the rock that helped Marie and I know that there was a bathroom close by. Wow we were so excited.

On top of Mount Sinai. It was around 7 am by this time. It was beautiful
Steven and I. It was so cold and we were all trying to get warm.
Michelle, Courtney, and I once we reached the top. It was a 2 hour hike and we woke up at 2 am. But this was the highlight of the trip for me. It was a hard hike and I almost got smashed by a camel but way worth it. After we watched the Sunrise, we had a great testimony meeting.

Natalie and I at one of the stops on our long drive to Mount Sinai. This was one of the areas were Moses and the Israelites camped on their journey.

All the guys thought they were so funny wearing our scarfs. Top: Jordon, Andrew, Ryan Bottom: Steven and Gage

Back in Cairo/Giza, we went to some Mosques. This was the Muhammad Ali Mosque. We had to remove our shoes and our tour guide (name Islam) told us all about his religion. It was neat to hear him talk about it with such reverence. He was a great guide and so fun. He was with us the whole week in Egypt. He always called us "Tut", like a train tut, tut- it was hilarious
This was inside another Mosque. We removed our shoes again, but the ladies didn't like the fabric of my missionary skirt, or thought it was too tight so I had to wear this robe. Amanda in my group and one other girl had to wear it too. I actually felt really bad that they thought I was inmodest. Arean't they pretty?

After visiting many churches we went to dinner at a Hard Rock Cafe. It was so nice to get a hamburger, but we couldn't put any of the lettuce or tomatoes on. Eric Cook is standing with me. That was a fun resturant. We all got up and danced to the YMCA and a few other songs.
The Hanging Church is a Catholic church. It was in memory of when Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus escaped to Egypt.

After visiting the last of the Temples in Luxor we took an overnight train from Luxor to Cairo (our first hotel in Egypt). That was quit the experience. We couldn't think about what we were sleeping in or what we were eating, we just did it. A lot of girls had a hard time with it..haha. I thought it was a fun experience. We are all looking out of our small two person rooms. The guy that was incharge of our car seemed really excited that he had all girls. When we were taking this picture he got out his camera and took one of us too.

Chelsea was my roommate all through our Egypt trip. This was our small room on the train. No really, that was it, you see it all in this picture. The beds came done from the walls that we are leaning against. There was a sink in fro of me and that is it.

Getting on the Train! When we went to Luxor we could only take that one bag on my back because of the plane ride there. I felt like I was camping the whole time.

Isn't this Beautiful! I took this picture while I was sitting at our pool at our hotel watching the sunset behind the Nile River.
Bonnie and I sitting at the pool. It was a little cold.

From the Karnak Temple we took a carriage ride to the Luxor Temple. Ok I was starting to get tired at this point but cool to see. Greg and Jeff are with me here.

Our carriage ride. Steven, Gage, Bonnie and I were all in this one. This driver was hilarious, he liked me sitting by him way too much. "Sit closer, it is better for the horse". But he let me drive so that was awesome. Using the whip is a lot harder then you think.

These are the writings on the Walls that showed their ordinances in the temple

More of the Karnak Temple

Karnak Temple again.

Karnak Temple, it was huge!

We are at another Temple in Luxor. This is teh Karnak Temple. We took a boat ride here. This was a huge temple. Really there was like 3 all in one area. This is were I learned a lot about how they worship in their temples and it is VERY similar to ours. In these columns is were they receive their information and their new name. I am standing with Marie (another one of my roommates).
This is our boat ride across the nile river to ride our camels. The sunsets were so beautiful!

OUR CAMEL RIDE! What an experience. Actually more relaxing then I thought it would be.

This was the boy that lead my camel. He was a nice guy. We talked the whole time. His name was Muhammed. And there is my camel, his name was Bob Marlie (I don't know why, all the camels only had like 5 names that rotated).

After the Pyramids we took a plane to Luxor and stayed at a really nice hotel that sits on the Nile River. The next day we went and saw more tombs. This is Colossus of Memon, really that is all I know, we did a lot of touring and I think by this point I was tired of listening so we just went and got pictures. Andrew is behind me.
This is at the Valley of the Queens. This women was wicked. She took a lot of control and built many things. This was here temple. There are drawings of her and the Gods all over the place. Her son (who she locked away for years because she wanted to remain Pharoah) tried to destroy all of her pictures but didn't succeed doing all of them. This is John, he thinks he is so funny, well I think he is funny too but don't tell him. He is the one that is allowed to call me Kimber, I don't even know why.

These are some writings on the walls. It was cool to learn about their everyday life, and their temple worships from these pictures.

Valley of the Queens.

Bonnie and I are at Memphis. This is a HUGE statue of one of the Pharoahs (yes I forgot his name, there are too many, wait I think Rameses II). Memphis is where we last hear of Jeremiah (were he fled to).
Bonnie and I are at the Sphinx. One of the Pharoahs built this because their was extra stuff from building the pyramid, so he first wanted to cover up the other pyramids but instead he built a Sphinx in memory of him.

Great kisser!

Many of us girls. We had to go through a temple to get to the Sphinx.

EGYPT!

After we crossed the border we had another 6 hour drive to Giza. We did sleep at a hotel before we crossed. So once we made it into Egypt we saw a light show of the Pyramids. You could tell it was old. It lighted up the Pyramids so it was pretty but the narrator was so boring and it was just a weird story about the Pharoahs. We just laughed at it. The next day we got up early and saw the Pyramids.
This was a lookout at the pyramids. Left to Right: Me, Alison, Staci, and Jodi

Yes of course we tired making a pyramid. We attempted several.

Yes I am that strong! This is Denise

We got to go inside one of these pyramids and see the tomb. It was so cool crawling inside, it was even low for me. Then it opens into a big room. Our professor bore his testimony on life after death which is what these people were trying to reach and we sang hymns inside, it was beautiful. The tomb was huge. We fit 21 people standing up in it.

We are crossing the border! There was a direct change in bathrooms and water once we crossed. We got through faster then we first thought so we had to wait forever for our buses so we started playing games and everyone thought we were so weird. Americans are so loud!
Before Egypt we also stopped at Avdat. This was an old town where they had a temple. The people would do a lot of trading here, and it was a great location because they had a big watering hole, and wine press. Daniel is behind the other pillar.

It was really pretty, and well put togther, more then other places. It had a lot of places to explore. This is Sam.

It was a really pretty lookout of the Desert.

This was also at the grave (Kadesh Wilderness). A better view of it I hope.
